Ok. That's it. We are officially tired of reading about news pertaining to closed borders and snap lockdowns in Australia due to Covid. So how about some good news?
There is a new 14-hole “short course” at Barnbougle! Named "Bougle Run," the new Coore-Crenshaw design consists of twelve par-3s and two par-4s. It plays across the massive dunes which define the Barnbougle property against the seas of northern Tasmania and should be great fun to play.
It seems like short courses are having a bit of a heyday. Aside from The Preserve at Bandon Dunes recent designs include Blackwolf Run and Quicksands. But don't make the mistake of thinking a short course is not for the serious player. These courses often include attributes that can't be replicated on a full course. Bougle Run is not a straightforward “easy” course to navigate and you can expect large elevation changes to increase the drama and add to the fun.
We recently spoke with the Barnbougle team and everyone is very excited about the completion of the project- it should be a great addition to Lost Farm and Lost Dunes. We imagine that Bougle Run will make a great introduction to Barnbougle on day of arrival. 14 holes is a perfect afternoon or early evening warm-up with a few cool drinks and the setting sun producing long shadows across the terrain. Or, if not planning to play 36 in a day, perhaps one of the longer courses followed by a round on the short course is in order?
In either case, we personally can't wait to see it for ourselves. Tee positions provide great views of the ocean as well as sight-lines across the surrounding landscape and Tasmania's rugged beauty. Contact one of our team members today to find out how we can help you plan your trip to Australia!
Cheers!
