Located in the Kessington area (south of Sydney CBD) since 1905, The Australian is known to North American golf fans as the home to the Australian Open. As the oldest club in the country, this is a must-play while in Australia. In 2013 Nicklaus redesigned the course and it has since hosted pro events which look magnificent! Accuracy here is important, as Jack's bunkering is severe!
The par-4s and par-5s on this course are difficult in their length alone, which is interesting because the course was considered at one time on the short-side prior to changes by Alex Russell after WW2. Like many top courses in Australia, The Australian GC existed prior to Alister MaKenzie's 1926 visit but was influenced by his suggested improvements.
